What To Do In The Event Of An Emergency

If you need to report an emergency or request assistance always call 111 in the first instance.  If the phone or cell phone systems are down please go to your sector post They will have a two way radio.

Please only go to your sector post if you are unable to stay in your own home or need to get a radio message sent for emergency help. Bring your survival kit contents with you as it may take a few days for basic supplies to arrive at your sector post.

Look after your immediate family first then see if your neighbours need help.  Are there vulnerable / disabled /elderly people nearby who maybe in need of help?

Listen to the radio to find out what is happening.  In Waimate listen to Port FM (83.2) or Classic Hits (98.6).  If you don't have a battery powered radio remember most vehicles have radios.
