Our Philosophy – Our Centre will provide families/whanau with an environment where they will trust the staff to nurture their children. It promotes the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children while responding to the values, needs and aspirations of families. Staff plan the educational programme to ensure that children are challenged and safe in the Centre environment. Our Centre will respect the individuality of each child and family and empower their children to be active participants in the learning and thus enabling them to contribute to society with the ability to adapt in an ever changing world.
Programme -The centre follows the Te Whaariki programme used by NZ early Childcare Centres, Kindergartens and Play Centres.
Child Ratio – 1:6 (over 2 years) - 1:4 (under 2 years)
At the Centre the children are kept busy in a safe, educational environment. We have set routines which include group times including kai, story and music sessions as well as many other enjoyable and co-operative activities.
Each child who attends for three hours or more per week has a profile book with photos and observations of the time spent with our centre.
Under Two’s - A special indoor area for under two’s ensures that the very little people have their own safe place to play and sleep. Parents are encouraged to provide written information about the routines their ‘under two’ finds comfortable.
Mealtimes – The centre provides water with all meals and morning and afternoon tea (eg. A vegemite sandwich and apple). We ask you send lunch boxes filled with healthy choices including sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt or crackers. We can heat food up in either the oven or microwave.
Enrolments and Bookings – As you enrol your child, feel free to discuss with Marlene or Marjanna the regular times you wish your child to attend.
The first few visits - The centre requests that parents stay with their children to make sure they have settled before leaving them. This may take 2 or more depending on the child.
Medications & Immunisations – We need to see Immunisation Certificates as part of our records and we agree with the Dept. of Health that ‘children should be immunised before enrolling at a childcare centre’.
