Skateboards, Bicycles and Scooters
Scope
The purpose of this chapter of the Bylaw is to control the riding of skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and similar devices, on Footpaths where a nuisance or injury may be caused to pedestrians or damage caused to property.
501 Control of skateboards, bicycles, and scooters
501.1 No Person shall ride a skateboard, bicycle, or a scooter in any area defined in the First Schedule attached to this chapter of the Bylaw.
501.2 No Person shall ride a skateboard, bicycle, or a scooter on any Footpath, or in any Public Place, outside areas defined in the First Schedule of this chapter of the Bylaw, without taking due care to ensure no damage is caused to any property or without having reasonable consideration for other Persons using the Footpath.
501.3 Council may from time to time by publicly notified resolution, amend the First Schedule, to add, delete or amend the areas to which the provisions of this chapter of the Bylaw shall apply.
502 Enforcement
502.1 Any Police Constable or authorised Security or Council Officer may enforce the provisions of this chapter of the Bylaw.
502.2 Any Person in breach of this chapter of the Bylaw may have a skateboard, bicycle, or a scooter impounded and be required to supply details necessary for infringement registration purposes.
503 Penalty
503.1 Any skateboard, scooter, or bicycle impounded pursuant to clause 502.2 hereof shall be held by Council and will be returned to an identified Owner after a period of three (3) working days upon payment of a $50.00 fee.
503.2 Every Person who commits a breach of this chapter of the Bylaw is liable to a fine as prescribed in Chapter 1 of this Bylaw.
