Waimate District Civic Awards
Nomination forms for the 2018 Waimate District Civic Awards are available at Council’s reception area, Waimate Library and the Information Centre and on our Council website www.waimatedc.govt.nz. These awards recognise voluntary work within our district – there are three categories, adult or individual, youth and group/organisation. I strongly encourage if you know of someone that has given a significant amount of time to working in our voluntary sector please consider nominating them. The deadline for nominations is Friday 26 January 2018.

Upcoming Meetings – 2018
Tuesday 30 January – Standing Committee meetings beginning with Public Forum at 9.30am, Council Chamber
Wednesday 14 February – Lower Waitaki Zone Committee meeting at 1.00pm, Waimate Event Centre
Tuesday 20 February – Ordinary Council meeting beginning with Public Forum at 9.30am, Council Chamber

School Holiday Activities
Activities will be run from 15 January to 26 January at the Waimate Event Centre. Over this two-week period the following activities will be available: wall climbing, face painting, skating, classic board games, fencing, story time with Ann, indoor cricket coaching. Please check the 11 January 2018 issue of Waimate Trader, Council’s website www.waimatedc.govt.nz or facebook page for dates, times and costs.

You will also find a ‘Summer Reading at the Library’ for junior readers – call into the library for more details.

On behalf of Mayoress Lyn, Councillors and all the staff at Council, I hope you all have a relaxed and safe Christmas and New Year period, and also that you find time to get out and enjoy our parks and reserves, walkways, playgrounds, swimming pool, lakes, rivers and recreation spaces.
