From the Council Meeting – Tuesday 27 June 2017
Annual Plan Adoption
At Tuesday’s Council meeting we formally adopted our Annual Plan 2017/18, which sets out our work plan for the next twelve months. As part of this process we also set our rates for the coming financial year – which we are pleased to say, at a 3.98% overall rate increase is slightly down from the 4.92% indicated in the Long Term Plan 2015-25.
Victoria Park Toilet Upgrade
Council was very pleased to approve the upgrading of the toilet block situated adjacent to the public playground at Victoria Park. This will complement the recent approval by Council to replace the old playground equipment with a new climbing and play module.
Centrecare Counselling 30th Jubilee and Grand Opening
Last Saturday I had pleasure in attending the 30th Jubilee and Grant Opening of Centrecare Counselling’s new premises at 3 Queen Street, Waimate. As I mentioned at the event, this facility and service offering counselling, support and advocacy for mental and emotional health care for those in need is as vital today to our communities as it was 30 years ago.
And finally, a reminder that it is time to register dogs in the Waimate District. If you have not received a registration form in the post please contact Council and they will send a form out to you.
