Mayor's Taskforce For Jobs - Workforce Programme
Programme Overview
In collaboration with the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) and Ministry of Social Development (MSD), Waimate District Council aims to help 50 young people, and jobseekers affected by COVID-19, to find sustainable employment by June 2021.
The programme will provide opportunities to engage with the workforce, whilst employers will be provided with assistance during these tougher financial and uncertain times.
Through this initiative, Council is able to assist local businesses with recruitment, training, guidance and in some cases subsidies, to help small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) take on new employees. While the programme has a specific focus on getting young people who are not in employment, education or training into sustainable employment, the programme will also assist jobseekers who have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
How does it work?
Our Employment Coordinator will work with employers and jobseekers throughout the Waimate District, helping to identify possible matches and facilitate potential upskill and training opportunities.
Once a successful appointment is made, our Employment Coordinator will schedule regular check-ins with both employer and employee, offering support and additional resources where required.
How can you get involved?
