The Waimate District Council wishes to advise residents and road users that the Mackenzie Endurance Club will be holding an endurance horse riding event on Saturday 12 September and Sunday 13 September 2026. Approximately 20 riders are expected to participate each day.
The event will be based from a property on Blue Cliffs Road, with riders travelling on a range of local rural roads between approximately 8am and 4pm on both days.
Road users may encounter riders on:

- Esk Bank Road
- Church Hill Road
- Esk Valley Road
- Agnews Road
- Campbell and Forrest Road
- Woolshed Valley Road
- Hillboro Road
- Otaio River Road
- Mackawlees Crossing Road
- Colliers Road
- School Crossing Road
The organisers will have event signage in place along the route, particularly at road intersections and blind corners, to help promote the safety of participants and road users.
Motorists are asked to drive with care, slow down when approaching horses, and allow plenty of room when passing riders.
The Council appreciates the cooperation of all road users in helping ensure a safe event for participants and the travelling public.
