Council administers five grants. Information on the grants are provided below along with the downloadable application forms.

The grants are advertised when applications are open throughout the Waimate District, including Council's Facebook page.
Waimate District Council Community and Sports Grant
The fund is open to all organisations who do not qualify for funding under the Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund and the Creative Communities NZ Scheme.
Applications open from 1 October each year and close 5pm, 31 October.

Creative Communities Scheme
Creative New Zealand provides funding to Council to support arts and cultural activities.
Known as the Creative Communities Scheme, this fund provides $11,275 per annum.
Applications open 1 October and 1 April each year.

The Heritage Fund is open for projects that include archaeological and traditional sites, buildings and sites with Historic Place classifications, notable and heritage trees and other buildings or sites Council consider worthy of assistance.
Applications can be made in February and August each year.
Sport New Zealand Rural Travel Fund
The purpose of the fund is to provide a travel subsidy for sporting clubs and schools competing in local sports competitions. Currently funded at $9,500 per annum.
Applications open on 1 October and 1 April each year.
Track Development Fund
This fund has been created in recognition that tracks are an important aspect of people's wellbeing and an attraction for visitors. $20,000 has been allocated per year for contestable grants to help clubs and organisations develop new tracks in the Waimate District.
Applications open in February and August each year with $10,000 available for each round. If funding is not fully allocated in each round, it will be carried forward to the next funding round.
