Council administers a number of grants. Information on the grants are provided below along with the downloadable application forms. The Waimate District Council administers five grants:
- Community Grant
- Sports Grant
- Creative NZ Communities Scheme
- SportNZ Rural Travel Grant
- Heritage Grant
Grants are advertised in The Waimate Trader, Timaru Herald, Kurow Bugle and Waimate News and Views as per the timeline. Grants are also advertised on our Facebook page as they become available for application.
The fund is open to all organisations not qualifying for funding under Council Sports Grant, SportNZ Rural Travel Grant and Creative New Zealand Communities Scheme.
Currently funded at $10,000 per annum, this fund opens for applications in April and October each year.
Creative Communities NZ Scheme (CCS)
The Creative Communities NZ Scheme provides funding for individuals and organisations for arts and cultural activities within the Waimate District. It is currently funded at $11,275.00 per annum. Applications open 1 October and 1 April each year.

The Heritage Fund is open throughout the year for organisations and individuals who undertake heritage preservation and enhancement projects.
Currently funded at $5,000 per annum.
Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund
The purpose of the fund is to provide a travel subsidy for sporting clubs and schools competing in local sports competitions.
Currently funded at $9,500 per annum.
Open for application 1 October and 1 April each year.
WDC Sports Fund Scheme
The WDC Sports Fund assists with grants for club initiatives, equipment purchase, training programmes, judge's expenses, etc.
Currently funded at $10,000 per annum.
