Road Closures: Aviemore and Benmore Dam Roads, September dates

Meridian Energy is planning on completing maintenance on the Benmore Dam and Aviemore Dam structures and advises that Dam roads will be closed to all traffic on the following date and times (including a contingency date for poor weather):

Benmore Dam Road

• Monday 7 September 2026: 8:30am to 4pm
  (Contingency date Tuesday 8 September)
• Thursday 24 September: 8:30am to 4pm
  (Contingency date Friday 25 September)

Aviemore Dam Road

• Tuesday 8 September: 8:30am to 4pm
• Wednesday 9 September: 8:30am to 4pm
  (Contingency date 10 September)

During these road closure periods, all motorised, peddle power and walking traffic, will be unable to cross the dam top.

Please note: One access to the north shores will remain open throughout. If the Benmore dam contingency date of Tuesday 8 September is used, the Aviemore Dam works scheduled for that day will be delayed.
