- SH82 / Queen Street between Oxford Street and William Street
- Side roads accessing the closure area will also be affected during the event
Road Closure Times
- Traffic management setup from approximately 10am
- Road closure in place from approximately 10am to 5pm
- Roads expected to fully reopen by 6pm
Detour Routes
- Clearly signposted detours will be in place for through traffic. Motorists are asked to allow extra travel time and follow all traffic management signage.
Access Information
- Emergency service access will be maintained.
- Residents and businesses within the closure area are advised that vehicles located inside the closure may not be able to enter or leave during the closure period.
- Pedestrian access will remain available.
Public Objections
- Any person objecting to the proposed road closure may lodge their objection, together with the grounds for that objection, in writing to Waimate District Council no later than 4pm on Saturday 7 November 2026. Objections should be sent to Waimate District Council Queen Street Office.
The road closure is required to allow the Positive Waimate Inc Christmas Parade to be held safely within the town centre. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
