Exempt Building Work (Granny flats)
Changes to New Zealand legislation now allow some building work to be done without the need for a building consent. Even without a consent the work being done must comply with the Building Code.
You should refer to the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) Building Work That Does Not Require A Building Consent to be sure or talk to a professional.
