Objective Build
From Monday 7 September 2026, Council is upgrading its platform for online building consent applications. The new platform is called Objective Build. Any applications that are submitted prior to the go-live date will be accepted in the current system. We recommend that if a new application is not urgent, you submit the application in Objective Build once it is live.
Objective Build makes applying for and managing building consents consistent, transparent, and efficient. It is a central hub for everything related to your building consents – with content centrally located and easily shared. Bringing together councils, architects, designers, builders and owners onto a single platform, Objective Build simplifies every step of the consent process.
What you can do in the platform
Apply for Building Consents
The platform makes applying for consents consistent across councils. As well as applying for your consent, you’re also able to apply for a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC), a Certificate of Acceptance (COA), a Project Information Memorandum (PIM) and more. All your applications made will be visible through a single login.
Manage your build
Ensure the right people have the right information. You can add and remove people involved in your build, giving them the ability to view consents, track their status and be notified of relevant updates – helping keep everyone in the loop.
Track the status of a consent and receive updates
See exactly where a consent is in the process, as well as any outstanding actions. You can also ensure you’re receiving updates as anything changes on a consent, helping to avoid delays and keep you updated.
Respond to RFIs
Manage all communication with Council directly from Objective Build, including responding to RFIs. Be notified of new RFIs and see the details in the status screen, reply and upload any supporting information all in a single place, with the data coming instantly to Council when you hit submit.
Collaboration
Make sure everyone who needs access to a consent has it through collaboration tools, assign a primary owner for set stages (for example, the builder on site as the key contact for inspections) so that everyone involved is kept informed.
Contact and Document Libraries
If you’re a builder or architect needing to lodge multiple consents, you can create a library of your most common consents and use them as templates, so you don’t need to repeatedly fill in the same information. Save key contacts to add to applications without needing to enter their details again. You can template several document types, from wood burners through to standardised plans you offer.
