Commercial and Industrial Buildings
If you plan to build or renovate a commercial or industrial building, there are certain rules under the Building Act to comply with.
Certificate for Public Use
A Certificate for Public Use confirms that premises, affected by building work, are safe to be used by members of the public if the Code Compliance Certificate has not been issued.
A compliance schedule lists specified systems within a commercial building.

Building Warrant of Fitness
All commercial building owners must have a current Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF). A BWoF confirms that the systems specified in a building's compliance schedule have been maintained and checked against the compliance schedule. This is done every 12 months.
It is the responsibility of the building owner to have a current BWoF. For more information on the process click on this link:
