Welcome to our last Newsline for 2025. As the year draws to a close, I want to thank all the champions of Waimate, from the volunteers and members of community organisations to all who love living and working in our district.
Proposed Changes to Local Government
Local councils are facing a wave of major reforms, including Local Water Done Well, local government reorganisation, rates capping, building control, emergency management, and resource management. The scale and speed of these changes is unprecedented and represents the biggest change to local councils since 1989.
Annual report 2024/25 adopted
Waimate District Council has officially adopted its Annual Report for 2024/25, marking the fourth year of the Long Term Plan 2021–2031 and the Enhanced Annual Plan 2024/25. The report reflects on Council’s financial and non-financial performance and highlights our achievements.
Road Resealing for 2026
Council’s annual road resealing programme will take place from early February for a period of three to four weeks. We explain why resealing is needed and link to our plan detailing which roads will be resealed and when.
