Youth audit sparks trial of $2 sports fee
A $2 per person hourly fee is being trialled at the Waimate Event Centre for casual use of the courts by children of school age. The fee is applicable on weekdays from 9am to 5pm, subject to availability of the courts.
Funding for A&P’s Shears Pavilion
Council has committed funds to help the Southern Canterbury A&P Association upgrade the Shears Pavilion. In October 2025 Council received correspondence requesting $40,000 towards a refurbishment project that is expected to cost more than $139,000.
Community and sports grants awarded
Successful applicants for the latest round of Council grants have been announced with $4,063.65 of funding going to community projects and $4,604 going to district sports.
You brought the Christmas joy
Waimate is truly a town that cares. It was a special Christmas for 48 families who watched their children excitedly tear the wrapping paper from Christmas gifts donated to Mayoress Lyn’s Christmas Child initiative.
