Successful applicants for the latest round of the Creative Communities Scheme funding have been announced for the Waimate District with a total of $12,493.80 being awarded between six groups. Funded by Creative New Zealand and delivered in partnership with Council, the grants go towards local arts and culture projects.
The recipients were:
- The Southern Canterbury A&P Association: $700 towards an A&P Creative Hub Pavilion for the Lego Show.
- Waihao Downs Mobile Kindergarten: $484.89 towards a mural at the kindy.
- Waimate Community Church: $6,678.66 towards the staging of Waimate Christmas in the Square.
- Jessie Philp: $1,880.25 towards the Waimate Scarecrow Hunt.
- Esther Wolters: $750 to help fund Woolster’s Hook & Learn Crochet Workshop.
- Jannette Aldridge: $2,000 for Mrs A’s Music School Band Bus.
Council receives applications on a six-monthly basis, typically in March and September each year. Each funding round is advertised when it becomes available.
