Applications for financial assistance are invited for three grants:
Community Grant: This fund is open to clubs and organisations which do not qualify for funding under the Creative Communities NZ Scheme.
Sports Grant: Open to clubs and organisations for help with sporting endeavours.
Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund: Administered by Council, this funding is designed to help subsidise travel for rural junior teams aged between five to 19 years, removing the barrier of travel costs to compete.
The Community and Sports Grants are funded at $10,000 per year, while the Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund is funded at $9,500 per year. All grants are split across two funding rounds. Council receives applications on a six-monthly basis, typically in October and April each year.
For the Community and Sports Grants, applicants should demonstrate the benefits of their project to the local community. Projects must be able to be completed within 12 months, and it is recommended that applicants also demonstrate some local fundraising, or voluntary labour can be achieved.
